I took the long trip up the coast to support my NY GIANTS in their fight against the San Francisco 49ers. We took the long way for the awesome views. A good portion of the drive is literally on the sides of mountains overlooking the water.
I saw a sign for "Elephant Seal Beach". With the exception of going to a zoo I had never seen seals in real life. We got out of the car and started walking towards the large group of people. I figured if so many people were there then you must be able to see something. As I was walking closer to the beach I thought there was a ton of driftwood covering the sand, BUT the "wood" started moving and I realized that they were all seals. HUGE ELEPHANT SEALS. They made so much noise but mainly just laid there. We stayed there and watched them for a while....until they all started attacking this one baby seal and then it got a little too "animal kingdom" for me and I had to leave.
Seals EVERYWHERE!
We made lots of stops to take in the views.
Then it was game day. I came really close to getting tickets but I guess it is better that I didn't spend a huge amount of money (even though we won.)
The beginning of the day. Giants sweatshirt and earrings.
Driving across the Golden Gate Bridge.
This was the picture I took before the game...just in case we won.
This is my "Manning representing in San Fran" picture.
Even though my tickets fell through I did find a Giants bar to watch the game in. During commercial breaks they played Bruce Springsteen songs. It was glorious.
...and then we won. The trip was exhausting. But it was my first time in SF and I got to visit with my old college roommate. A pretty good way to spend a weekend.
